Consignment FAQ's:
-
How does the consignment program work?
-
You schedule an appointment to bring in up to 30 of your equestrian equipment/apparel/decor to be sold by us for you! Franklin Saddlery takes a consignment fee of 30% on all saddles and 40% on all other items.
-
-
Can I come by today and drop off consignment items?
-
No, consignment functions by appointment only. If you are traveling from a distance we recommend scheduling well in advance to ensure we have availability!
-
-
What items can I bring for consignment?
-
We accept a wide variety of both English and Western items for consignment. For safety reasons, we cannot accept helmets, stirrup leathers, or illegal/out dated equipment. Items must be clean and functional in lightly used or like-new condition. If you have questions about what this includes please contact us!
-
-
How long does it take for my items to sell?
-
Our consignment contract length is 2 years for saddles and 1 year for all other items. We cannot guarantee when items will sell, but this contract length gives all your items plenty of time to find a new home.
-
-
Can I unload my whole barn in one appointment?
-
No thank you! We accept a maximum of 30 items per appointment to ensure your items are given the attention they deserve for accurate pricing and care.
-
-
What if my items aren't selling?
-
As of 2026, we have implemented a discount tier system to help get your items sold, effective on everything except saddles! At any point you may also contact us to discuss lowering the price on any item. If you have any concerns about your items currently consigned please contact us.
-
-
I have a lot of old bridles and tack, how do I prepare them for my appointment?
-
All consignment items must be appropriately cleaned prior to the appointment in order to be accepted. For leather goods, this includes being cleaned AND oiled/conditioned. We know that thoroughly cleaned items, even if well loved, sell much easier than those that require some TLC from the buyer.
-
-
I just want to get rid of things. Can I donate my items to Franklin Saddlery?
-
Our consignment program is a business that functions as a liaison to get your items sold at fair prices without the hassle of doing it yourself. If your item is not something you would purchase in a store, we cannot sell it. If you are looking to donate items rather than sell them in our program, we are happy to direct you to other organizations with whom you can do so.

-
The consignment area of the store seems very full, I'm concerned about my things not being noticed
-
Our staff is constantly doing their best to ensure our store remains clean and organized, while also marketing a large volume of products. The consignment program has grown exponentially, and has a constant flow of items coming in and going out. All it takes is one person to need what you're selling!
-
-
I'm shopping for something specific that I want on consignment, can I find it online?
-
The only consignment items marketed online are our saddles. If you are looking for an item, please call, text, or email us, and our staff would be happy to check our consignment inventory and help you find what you need!
-
-
How do I know if my items have sold?
-
In the month following each fiscal quarter, you will receive a report of what items have sold and information about your payout check.
